PAVILION WRECKED
Vandals Also Took Gates (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 29. Vandals have wrecked the surf life-saving pavilion at Queen Elizabeth Park, Paekakariki, and stole a pair of 10ft iron gates erected three days before at the park’s Paekakariki entrance. The gates were taken after a telephoned threat to the park caretaker, Mr M. K. P. Drummond, to dynamite the locked gates at the other entrance at McKay’s Crossing. Mr Drummond estimated the damage at the pavilion at between £6O and £7O and said the gates cost £BO to erect.
The police are investigating.
