Prisoners In Choir
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 28. Four prisoners from Mount Crawford Gaol joined the choir of St. John’s Church, Willis street, for the morning service yesterday. They were welcomed by the Rev. J. K. Fairbairn and introduced by the prison chaplain, the Rev. W. Eisner. They were accompanied by the prison superitnendent, Mr L- C. Gorman. The prisoners were introduced to the organist who robed them in St. John choir robes. They sat in the choir gallery with the rest of the choir. Before the sermon, the quartet sang a piece from the Black Nativity show, and a carol to guitar accompaniment. Mr Fairbairn said this morning the church was wellfilled and “we found that this experiment was vastly worthwhile.”
