WIN FOR MALVERN

357 Runs In 205 Min Malvern scored 357 runs for four wickets in 205 minutes to gain a first innings win over Ellesmere in a Masefield Shield cricket match. Ellesmere was all out for 333 (in 210 minutes). Ellesmere began badly, losing a wicket with the first ball. However, W. Scott and J. Meyer scored 114 for the second wicket before R. Gunn broke through the batting. A sixth-wicket partnership of 110 by M. Hatchard and B. Free retrieved the position. Gunn took six wickets, and his medium-paced off-breaks worried most of the batsmen.

The Wright brothers, N. Q. and A. F., together scored 136 runs in 65 minutes to assure Malvern of victory. N. Q. Wright completed a wellmerited century and was seldom on the defensive. -To wards the end of the match the Malvern fielding collapsed badly in the face of the onslaught. Scoreboard:—
