(From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT. Dec. 25. Athletes at the Westport Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club's sports meeting on Victoria square on Wednesday competed under unusual circumstances. A grader, water-truck and roller made continuous rounds of the cycling track, preparing it for the final stages of sealing the

next day in an all-out effort to have the track ready for the first night meeting on Saturday. The machines had started work at daybreak and only ceased at 8.30 p.m. Nearby was evidence of volunteer work by duh members in laying cables underground to the high concrete poles. from which flood lights will cover the track and Inside enclosure.

Cable supplies had run out but temporary overhead wires were provided by the Buller Power Board.

Next to the area used for field events members of the Buller cricket team were busy on Wednesday evening preparing a pitch for matches against Ashburton and South Canterbury over the holiday period.
