ATTACK ON WOMAN
Man Said He Was Policeman (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 25. Police are searching for a man who attacked and robbed an elderly woman in her home in Beatrice road, Reniuera, late on Wednesday night. Miss Irene Moore, aged 72, suffered extensive bruising to the face, and other injuries when she was struck by the man who had bluffed his way into her house by claiming he was a policeman. A police official today warned the public, particularly women, to watch for suspicious loiterers and to report them immediately. The man grabbed Miss Moore as she opened the door. He held her for about an hour and tried to tie and gag her. He stole £l7 10s. As he left he tore the telephone from the wall.
