Christmas Mail Was Heavy
(N Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 25. More than seven million letters, weighing 200 tons, were posted at the chief post office, Auckland, in 24 days this month—a record for Christmas mail. The total to Christmas Eve was 7,210,000 letters, 334,000 more than last year. Overseas surface mails, with last year’s for comparison, were: Inward, 53,743 bags (34,185); outward, 9617 (7352).
