LEPER MAN APPEAL
Christchurch Support Appreciation of the support given by Christchurch people to the Leper Man Appeal this year is expressed in a statement by the secretary of the Lepers’ Trust Board (Mr D. Douglas). “Christchurch people have helped in many ways. Over 250 volunteers have helped us during the year, addressing envelopes and in other ways making the year’s work possible. Many anonymous donations have been received from the citizens of Christchurch. “There is a tremendous need in the South Pacific and we are most grateful for the money so unselfishly given.
“The Canterbury Savings Bank generously donated window space over the last four weeks and the people of Christchurch have shown their appreciation of this gesture by placing over £25 in the collection box which was located inside the bank. Our thanks go to all those good people who helped in this manner. “We wish all Christchurch people a very Merry Christmas and assure them that the help they have given the Leper Man Appeal has ensured that the lepers of the South Pacific will also have something to look forward to at this Christmas time.” obtain for periods longer
