HIS 4th TOUR
Played In Hockey XI (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 23. While this is the first Pakistan cricket team to tour New Zealand and none of the players has been here before, the assistant manager, Mr S. M. Husain, is making his fourth tour of New Zealand. One of India’s outstanding hockey players, Mr Husain toured New Zealand in 1935 and 1938, being captain in the latter tour, and in 1958 he was associate manager of the Pakistan side. Mr Husain, who is keenly looking forward to meeting some of his old hockey foes, “especially Eddie McLeod,” is a memebr of an unusual sports organisation in Pakistan. He is sports officer for Pakistan International Airways and no fewer than six members of the touring team, including the captain, Hanif Mohammad, are also members of the same firm. Changing To 6-Ball Overs Six-ball overs will be used for the final round of the Malvern cricket competitions as a trial instead of the eightball overs which have been the custom. This was decided at an executive meeting of the Malvern sub-association. February 13 was left as a free day for the Pakistan test match, when the draw for the second round of competition matches was approved. A programme of representative matches was approved as follows:—December 26: v. Ellesmere, at Greendale (Masefield shield match); 28: v. Ellesmere, at Leeston (subassociation shield match); January 4: v. Banks Peninsula, at Kaituna (Masefield shield match); February 20: v.
