FUNDS FOR NEEDY
Collection At Cathedral A special collection for needy children of the world will be taken in the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Barbadoes street, during the Christmas period. Funds will be divided equally between the Save the Children Fund and the U.N.I.C.E.F. “Christmas centres around the child of Bethlehem and so has a special link with children of all time,” the Very Rev. Father J. Cuneen, administrator of the Cathedral, said yesterday. “It is hoped to give this truth continuing and practical expression during the Christmas season from Christmas Eve until the feast of the Epiphany (January 5),” he said. “There will be, in front of the crib in the Cathedral, a special offering box sp that visitors may have an opportunity of assisting the needy children of the world.” Already a number of offerings have been made. As part of the emphasis on children, a carol service was held on the Cathedral lawn on Tuesday evening. Eighteen nations were represented in the procession of pupils from the Cathedral parish schools.
