Education Finance

Sir, —Mr Bull’s courtesy in replying so fully to my inquiry is greatly appreciated, and I thank him for it. Nevertheless, we are still confronted with the fact that if all our private schools—or even half of them—ceased to function, the cost to the taxpayer would be very substantially increased. In these circumstances I feel that my share, as a taxpayer, of the £516,000 aid to the private schools is a credit and not a payment—not even Mr Bull’s brass farthing.—Yours, etc., JOHN STEWART.
