OPPOSED BY JAYCEES
French Test In Pacific
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Dec. 22.
The New Zealand Jaycees have advised the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) by letter of a resolution in which they deplore the decision of the French Government to conduct nuclear tests in the Pacific, a spokesman for the organisation said today. The organisation also resolved to seek the co-opera-tion of the French Jaycee movement to urge on its Government the “wisdom of reversing its decision to conduct nuclear tests in any part of the earth’s atmosphere.” The letter to Mr Holyoake also referred to the concern of members at the recent Chinese tests and says: “We would assure you that this organisation desires to lend support to your efforts to urge the French, or any other Government, to abandon such nuclear testing.”
