PUBLIC NOTICES I THE WAIMAKARIRI-ASHLEY I WATER SUPPLY BOARD I By-laws to be made by Special Order THE WAIMAKARIRI-ASHLEY WATER SUPPLY BOARD hereby gives PUBLIC NOTICE that at a Special Meeting of the Board held at the Board's offices at Cust on Monday, the 23rd day of November, 1964, it was resolved to make and ordain bylaws of the Board by way of Special Order. The object and purport of the proposed by-laws which are to be made under The Counties Act, 1956, and its Amendments are—(a) To repeal all the existing by-laws of the Board. (b) To make new by-laws prescribing the terms and conditions on which the Brown’s Rock Water race may be used and water supplied therefrom. (c) The proposed new by-laws do not alter the existing scales or rates of annual acreage charges but provide (inter alia) for the Board to alter, increase or reduce the same and/or to alter the basis, manner or scale of all or any such, or other charges for any financial year by Resolution of the Board. (d) Inter alia the proposed new by-laws deal with and cover matters that are referred to in Section 70 of The Counties Amendment Act, 1961. (e) To (a) To regulate the use of water from water races, and to prohibit the taking or use of water from water races for specified purposes or during specified periods: (b) To prevent or regulate the planting of any trees, hedges, or other plants or the erection or reerection of any fences or structures on or within a specified distance from water races where they will obstruct or be likely to obstruct the free passage of machinery or apparatus used for the purpose of improving, maintaining, or cleaning water races, and requiring owners and occupiers of land on which any trees, hedges, or other plants are planted or fences or structures are erected or reerected in breach of the by-laws to remove the same; (c) To prevent the obstruction of water races; (d) To prevent the pollution of water in races; (e) To prevent the driving of animals or vehicles, and the conveying of machinery and other material through or across water races, except at appointed crossings; ((f) To punish persons for interfering without the consent of the Board with dams, reservoirs, headworks, buildings, machinery, or appliances connected with water races; (g) To prevent bathing tn reservoirs and other parts of water races; (h) To protect persons employed by the Board in connexion with water races in the discharge of their duties; ((1) To prevent the widening and deepening of water races, or the alteration of the course thereof, without the consent of the Board: (j) To prevent trespasses upon water races through, over, upon, or under roads. (k) Generally to prevent trespasses, nuisances, and obstructions to water races, and to make all such provision as to the Board seems necessary or expedient for the proper protection and proper management of water races; (l) To provide for the cleansing, repair, or maintenance of any water race by the owner or occupier of land on which that race is situated, or which is adjacent to any road or reserve on which that race is situated. The by-laws empower the Board, in case the owner or occupier of land on which any water race is situate, or water of which he is at liberty to use, makes default in cleansing, repairing, or maintaining the race, to do the work and recover the cost thereof from that owner or occupier as a debt, whether or not proceedings are taken for a breach of the by-law. (f) To give powers to the Board to deposit materials from the cleaning or the clearing of the “Main Race” and incidental thereto on adjoining lands. (g) Generally to cover all matters in relation to the water races under the Board’s control which the Board now deems necessary to ensure the efficient control and operation of the same. AND PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the Resolution making the said by-laws (and repealing the existing by-laws) is to be submitted for confirmation as a Special Order by the Board at an Ordinary Meeting of the Board to be held on Monday, the 18th day of January, 1965, at 8 p.m. at the Board’s Offices at Cust. A copy of the proposed bylaws is deposited at the office of the Board at Cust (and at the office of Mr T. K. Court, Public Accountant and Secretary to the Board, at 79 High street, Rangiora), and is open for inspection of the public during office hours from date hereof and until the date aforesaid on which the said resolution is to be submitted for confirmation as a Special Order.

High street, RANGIORA. 6264 THE TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1953 HEARING OF OBJECTIONS TO PROPOSED CHANGE NO. 24 WITHELLS ISLAND, TO THE CHRISTCHURCH DISTRICT SCHEME, SECTION ONE (ZONING) THE Christchurch City Council hereby gives notice that the hearing of objections to proposed Change No. 24 Withells Island of Section One (Zoning) of the District Scheme will commence at the Council Chambers at 2.15 o’clock in the afternoon of Thursday, the 18th day of February, 1965, and will continue as there arranged from time to time and place to place until all objectors and witnesses have been heard. Any person wishing to support or oppose any objection may Inspect and make copies of the objection at the offices of the Council, 194 Manchester street, during usual office hours. All persons who wish to be heard in support of or opposition to any objection shall notify the Council accordingly at least three days before the date of the hearing. PROPOSED CHANGE OF ZONING—From Residental "A” to Industrial “B”. The following is a summary of the subject matters of objections received by the Council: 1. That the Residential "A" zoning be retained. 2. That the land should be reserved for educational, cultural, community or recreational purposes. AREA AFFECTED Withells Island being Part Rural Section 460, C.T. 256/276 and Reserve 3752 and lying between Owles terrace, Brighton terrace and the River Avon.
