Six Injured On Roads
Six persons were injured in road accidents in Christchurch yesterday afternoon and evening.
Francis Mallett, of 467 Halswell road, suffered leg injuries in a collision involving a van, truck and car at the corner of Barbadoes and Lichfield streets about 1.15 p.m. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged. At 1.45 p.m., Mr A. P. H. Goddard, of 7 Woodhouse street, suffered leg injuries when his motor-cycle and a
car collided at the corner of Worcester street and Fitzgerald avenue. He was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where his condition was reported to be satisfactory. Miss M. Irving, of 15 Wilmer street, suffered leg injuries when her bicycle and a car collided at the corner of St. Asaph street and Fitzgerald avenue about 4.30 p.m. She was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where her condition was reported to be satisfactory. Another cyclist, Mrs M. Horne, of 173 Springfield road, suffered minor injuries in a collision with a car at the corner of Salisbury and Durham streets. She was treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged. Mrs E. F. Banks, of 16 Tweed street also a cyclist suffered head injuries and shock in a collision with a car at the corner of Forth street and Stanmore road. She was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where her condition was reported to be fairly satisfactory. Mrs W. Kennedy, of 398 Gloucester street suffered head injuries when she fell from a bus near the corner of Stanmore road and Worcester street. She was treated at the Christchurch Hospital and discharged.
A truck which skidded in heavy rain about 4.45 p.m. in Cranford street hit a veranda post of a grocery shop on the corner of Cranford and Berwick streets. Nobody was injured.
