Tried To Ride Motor-cycle

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, Dec. 21.

A youth who admitted drinking a bottle of sherry and a half bottle of vodka before attempting to ride his motor-cycle was sentenced to three months’ periodic detention and had his driving licence cancelled for three years when he appeared before Mr A. A. Coates, S.M., today. Jack James Moka, aged 19, insulation worker, was appearing for sentence after previously pleading guilty to a charge of riding a motorcycle while under the influence of liquor. Previous evidence was that Moka had fallen over several times while trying to ride his machine and at the police station was so intoxicated that he was unable to perform any tests to determine the extent of his intoxication.
