Mao Still Leader

Seventy-year-old Mao Tse-tung has been named to the Presidium of the Third National People's Congress in the wake of Chinese Nationalist speculation he was about to be replaced as leader of the Chinese Communist Party.

Radio Peking, in a broadcast monitored in Tokyo, said Mr Mao was one of the 152 ranking Communist officials appointed to the Presidium yesterday. The congress opens its annual legislative meeting in Peking today. At the first meeting yesterday, the agenda for the formal opening was set and Presidium members I announced.
