'Pirate' Radio Owner Drowned
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright)
LONDON, December 20.
The body of a man washed ashore at Whitstable, England, on Thursday night was identified today as that of a Folkestone boatman, Mr Harry Featherbee, better known as Tom Pepper, who operated a “pirate” radio station from a war-time anti-aircraft fort some miles off the mouth of the Thames. Mr Featherbee left Faversham yesterday in his 36-foot launch David. He was thought to have been making for the radio station.
A spokesman for the station —Radio Invicta—said Mr Featherbee had been bringing a disc jockey from the station back on leave. This man was missing.
