A total of 55,332 industrial accidents was reported m 1963—967 more than in 1962. Fatal accidents, however, decreased by nine to 74 and cases of permanent disability decreased by 129 to 878. Compensation paid increased by £89,188 to £3,124,917. Increases in accidents reported were shown in the following industrial divisions—building and construction (796), transport, storage, and communication (357), commerce (266), agriculture. forestry, hunting ■and fishing (149), and services (21). Decreases were shown in mining and quarry- | ing (341), manufacturing (238), and electricity, gas, water, and sanitary services i(46).
