Road Safety

Sir,—Would it not be prudent to impose a 45 miles an hour speed limit for all road users from Christmas until January 20? Britain and Denmark have; and 1 think it would save a lot of unnecessary death and injury to perhaps innocent people, particularly children. I have always told young folks that a traffic officer does not even see you go past unless you are speeding or showing off. Also, cars do not roll over on bends, jump ditches, and perform other acrobatics unless the “nut” behind the wheel is loose.— Yours, etc.,

P. L. BASHFORD. Kaiapoi, December 8, 1964.
