Procession To New Berths
Three craft will take part in the opening of the harbour extension this afternoon. The harbourmaster (Captain A. R. Champion) said that the tug Lyttelton II would lead the procession from the inner harbour to the new berths. Others will be the launch from H.M.N.Z.S. Pegasus, and the Northern Steamship Company’s coastal vessel, Awanui, which is expected at Lyttelton this morning.
There are few vessels in port at present. Those that are will be dressed with bunting for the occasion.
