PRACTICAL PROJECTS
Lines Of Aid Suggested Specific projects for New Zealand women to give practical help to developing countries during International Co-operation Year were suggested by the national president of the National -Council of Women (Mrs W. Grant) at a meeting of the Christchurch branch last evening. They could raise money to cover the cost of sinking a well in an arid country, i provide garden implements and seed for growing vegetables in some village or pro- ! vide an outboard motor boat 1 for fishermen. Mrs Grant said she had read in some areas a night's fishing by dhow yielded about • 101 b of fish where as a catch from an outboard motor boat was 1201 b. These were practical gestures to consider. “We do not realise how wealthy and how fortunate we are in New Zealand,” she said. “We have never been invaded and we have never seen our children die of starvation.” It may be that New Zea-! land had been blessed in i order to help those less for-j tunate, Mrs Grant said.
