N.Z. Churches Aid Y.W.C.A.
Miss J. Thomson, world Young Women’s Christian Association secretary for mutual service and extension, thanked the New Zealand National Council of Churches for its aid to Y.W.C.A. projects. Speaking at a meeting of the national executive of the N.C.C. in Christchurch, Miss Thomson explained the work which New Zealand funds made possible in Sierra Leone and Tanganyika. In Sierre Leone, where the N.C.C. had provided about £5OO in financial assistance, the Y.W.C.A. carried on programmes of vocational training for girls in Freetown and nutrition education in the Bo district.
In Tanganyika the N.C.C. had helped to develop nursery schools.
