W.E.A. ART EXHIBITION
Opening ByMayor The manner in which the expression and appreciation of art had emerged in Christchurch during the last 40 years was due largely to the efforts of the Workers’ Education Association, said the Mayor of Christchurch (Mr G. Manning) when he opened the fourth annual exhibition of work, by members of painting, pottery, and wood sculpture classes of the association. The exhibition, which will continue until Friday, has on display 70 paintings, the works of six members of the wood-sculpture class and 10 members of the pottery class. It is being held in the W.E.A. rooms in Gloucester street. “As far as Christchurch is concerned it has been the W.E.A. that has led the way in developing in this city an appreciation for art,” said Mr Manning.
