MIX-UP IN BOXING

Four Named Contenders (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) HOUSTON, Nov. 17. The chairman of the World Boxing Association (Mr Anthony Maceroni) has told the top four contenders for the world heavy-weight title to appear in New York on Friday to complete arrangements for an elimination tournament.

The W.B.A. declared the heavy-weight title vacant earlier this year when it was announced that Cassius Clay was to defend his crown against Sonny Liston. , That fight had to be postponed after Clay was taken to hospital for a hernia operation last Friday.

The four contenders for the title, according to the W.8.A., are Ernie Terrell, of New York, Cleveland Williams, of Houston, Floyd Patterson, of New York, and George Chuvalo, of Canada. Mr Maceroni said the postponement of the Clay-Liston fight had nothing to do with this directive which was sent out to the managers of the contenders last Thursday.
