A close tussle between two of the unbeaten teams, Wharenui and Fendalton. : marked the second round of the Canterbury senior water \ polo competition. Fendalton I won, 5-4. after Wharenui had missed a penalty shot at goal lin the last seconds. | Scorers for Fendalton were |B. Sutherland (two). I’ Sturge, R. Pirie and II Schout. For Wharenui, G Parker. L. Wilson, G. Toney cliffe and R. Erickson replied
Beckenham, the defending champion an other unbeaten side. beat Christchurch easily, 7-0. B. McNeilage (three), L. Mclntosh (two), G. Dann and G. McKenzie were Beckenham’s goal scorers.
University scored its first competition points by beating Elmwood, 8-5. P. Hatchwell, who has just returned to Christchurch from Dunedin, figured prominently for Uni versity and scored three of the side’s goals. The other University scorers were A. N McPhail (three) and I. H McDonald (two). For Elmwood, goals were netted by K Chamberlain (two), J. Hay (two) and N. Chamberlain Other results were:— Senior B—Wharenui 6. Air Force 4; Christchurch 6, University 5: Beckenham A 9. Beckenham B 3. Junior.—Spreydon 4. Fendalton 1; Wharenui 2, Beckenham 2.
