CANTERBURY BANK
New Branches Opening The Canterbury Savings Bank is to open two new branches in Christchurch soon. Mr M. A. Connelly, M.P. for Riccarton, will open a branch at Addington on Wednesday, November 25. The branch will be in a renovated building in Lincoln road.
A branch will be opened at Papanui on December 1 by Mr H. J. Walker, M.P. for St. Albans. This branch is situated in a new block of shops in Papanui road.
When these two branches are opened there will be six suburban and country branches around Christchurch.
The president (Mr M. J. Russell), said total funds in the bank exceeded £6] million credited to more than 23,000 depositors. He said the trustees were pleased to be able to extend the services of the bank into the new areas although it was only a little more than two years since the bank was established. Plans were in hand for a Marlborough division of the bank to be established in Blenheim and the board hoped an announcement could soon be made regarding the Nelson division with another branch later in Motueka, said Mr Russell.
