Respect For Life
Sir, —“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Who could fail to be moved by the picture today of the little lad who lost both arms for love of his friend? Mr Small risked his life to rescue lost sheep. On our roads and street corners daily, we hear of accidents and many nearmisses through careless driving. What love for life and care for others is displayed by those who selfishly speed over pedestrian crossings, marked or not, cut corners or otherwise endanger human lives to save seconds or show off? Have such drivers any respect for life? Their energy might be better employed learning life-saving in the surf. A sense of value might develop.—Yours, etc., RELATIVITY. November 18, 1964.
