U.K. League Wants To Pick Fijians
(y.Z.P.A.-Reuter— I Copyright) LONDON, November 6. Great Britain wants to include South Africans and Fijians in its Rugby League teams.
For this reason, the side to meet France at Perpignon on December 6 was not chosen when the selectors met in Leeds, Yorkshire, yesterday. Mr W. Fallowfield, the English League secretary, said afterwards that the selection committee was asking the consultative committee to give approval to a plan which would enable South Africans and Fijians to be selected. He added that the policy
had been adopted in other sports and that he was hoping to have the necessary approval before the team to meet France was selected on November 23. Mr Fallowfield made it clear the proposal referred to players in the English League who were not eligible for any other country in the international competition, namely Australia, New Zealand and France.
