Congregational Services

About £370 was offered at two of three services held in the Trinity Congregational Church for the annual thanksgiving services on Sunday. The 11 a.m. service, which was broadcast, was a combined English and Samoan service. The readings were in both languages and two hymns were in Samoan. The Rev. D. J. Inglis spoke on “Pilgrim Fathers of 1964.” At 3 p.m. there was a Samoan service and at 7 p.m. there was the normal English service, at which Mr Inglis spoke on why he believed in God. There was a social hour afterwards. Thanksgiving services had been held in the church for more than 20 years, said Mr Inglis, and this one was held near the end of the church’s centennial year. He said that before the service pledge cards were sent out asking members what they were willing to give in time, talent, and treasure. The cards were returned yesterday, and there was a good response.
