POULTRY NEED NOT BREED FLIES-
Poultry-farms ° can be a chronic source of housefly nuisance throughout the warmer months, but if all poultry-farmers were as enterprising as Mr E. K. Broughton, of Longview, Yaldhurst, poultry would present little if any fly problem, says Mr G. W. L. Fairhall, the Paparua County health inspector. Mr Broughton has designed
and built a machine which, as well as feeding his birds and cleaning their cages as he “drives” it between the rows, can also spray an insecticide on the droppings. The machine is guided by a concrete path over which it squats with its wheels on either side. The picture shows Mr Broughton in action.
