Of Benefit To All
LONDON. Oct 30. The true benefit* ot foreign tourism in Britain are incalculable.
This view was expressed by Sir John Elliot, chairman of Thomas Cook and Son, at the Brighton conference of the Association of British Travel Agents. Passengers travelled in vehicles, ships, and aircraft which had to be built, furnished, and powered, he said. Behind the manufacturers were the primary

producers—mines, power stations, and toolmakers. Tourists bought all sorts of things from ash trays to cars.
“Ai someone said to me in another country recently: ‘When the tourist comes here, we all get a share, right down to the man who grows lettuce,’” said Sir John Elliot.
He suggested that Britain could get a further share of the estimated £3t dm spent on world tourism by improved services.
