General Leclerc

Sir,—l have been commissioned to write the story of the campaigns of General Leclerc and his Free French in World War II and should be most grateful for any help some of your ex-service-men readers might be able to give me. In the early years of the war Leclerc had close associations with the Long Range Desert Group, which, of course, was largely made up of New Zealanders. Later, at the turning of the Mareth Line, he and his Free French again fought alongside the New Zealanders. I should be most happy to hear from anyone who can give me anecdotes about General Leclerc and his troops. 1 should also find most useful —as illustrating the conditions under which they fought side by side—personal war stories from men who were there.—Yours etc., HENRY R. MAULE. 39 Bath road, Reading, Berks., England. September 11, 1964.
