BRAVE DOG
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, October 21. The annual “Dog-of-the-year” award has been made posthumously to a Corgi named Tammy, owned by a 13-year-old Motueka girl.
Tammy saved his mistress, Sharon Rowling, from being burned in a bedroom fire at her home in Wilkie street last July.
Tammy, aged six, was under veterinary treatment for some weeks before he died last month. A dog which six years ago saved its master with a broken leg from an attack by a bull, was highly commended. This dog. named Skil, Is owned by Mr R. A. Constable, of Waimauku, near Auckland. The award is made by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
