Cuts From Gloves

The medical jury of the International Amateur Boxing Association has asked that the boxing gloves being used in Olympic competition be changed, British United Press reported. Dr. Joseph Blonstein, head of the medical group and doctor for the British boxing team, said the group was alarmed at the large number of cuts suffered in competition so far. Dr. Blonstein said that 25 cuts had been recorded during the first seven days of competition. A number of boxers had complained that the rough surface of the gloves was hurting the skin, he said.
