New Shoe Styles For The Spring

LONDON, October 8.
The “Fashion in Footwear” exhibition officially opened in London this week by the Royal shoemaker, Mr Edward Rayne, featured shoes from 150 leading manufacturers and suppliers.
The exhibition highlights men’s, women’s and children’s footwear from 17 countries and shows a continuation of this season’s covered-up look, but for spring, 1965, the new look means high shoes cut away from below, with slingbacks, T-bars, sandalised effects and a marked preference for straps of all kinds cut predominantly close to the ankle to emphasise slenderness.
Beige is the favourite colour for the season.
Latest trends show soft round toes, fairly flat, and setback heels, straight and curvy, thick and slender, working on the principle “the rounder the toe, the thicker and lower the heel.” For men, to tone with the current trend toward grey suits for spring, there is a retilrn to the lighter tans and browns which are the complements of pale suitings. Lines are easy and have slender, softened chisel or smooth, oval toes.
