HATS FOR SCHOOLS

Hairstyles Problem

(From Our Own Reporter) TIMARU, Oct. 18.

Although school hats were attractive and well designed, their degree of smartness was determined by the tilt forwards or backwards—or by the height the hat was worn above the top of the head, said the secretary (Mr H. Sievwright) at a meeting of the Timaru Girls’ High School Parent-Teacher Association. He said it was difficult to design a uniform headwear which looked smart on the many hair styles worn by pupils. The meeting was told that the school council was considering a change of school uniform, and hats which no longer suited modern hair styles might be replaced by more modish school headwear.
