Rescue In Harbour

fIV.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 18. A policeman jumped fully clothed into Wellington harbour this afternoon in an attempt to save two men from drowning.

Two of four men sitting on the edge of Jervois quay lost their balance and fell backwards into the harbour.

Constable R. Huntley plunged in and rescued both. An ambulance was called and both men taken to hospital, but on arrival one was found to be dead. The police would not release the dead man's name as his next-of-kin had not been notified.
