Youth Fatally Injured

A youth who was seriously injured when he was struck by a car about 6.50 p.m. on Friday died in the Christchurch Hospital at 3 a.m. on Saturday. He was:

John Clive Kinzett, aged 17, a forest worker, of 252 Wilsons road.

Mr Kinzett had just got out of a car on the east side of Marshland road, just to the south of Prestons road, and was crossing the road to go to a shop when he was struck by a car driven south by Cornelius Aranus Vermeeren, of Tram road, Kaiapoi.

Seriously Injured.—Serious head and leg injuries were suffered by Kim Joanne Turnbull, aged four, of 25 Maxwell street, when she ran out on Maxwell street and was struck by a car about 12.50 p.m. on Saturday. She was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, and was still on the seriously ill list last evening. Head Injuries. Janice MacDonald, of Crohane street, Sydenham, suffered head injuries when a car struck a pole in Ferry road near the tunnel road roundabout early on Saturday afternoon. She was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital. Cyclist Injured.—When she lost control of her cycle while riding down St. Andrews Hill road on Saturday afternoon, Margaret Francis Therise, of 36 St. Andrews Hill road, ran into a stationary car. She suffered head injuries, and was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. Car Hits Pole.—Head injuries were suffered by Robert Dawson, of the Main North road, Woodend. when a car driven by Errol Richard

Cooke, of Pines Beach, struck a pole on the Main North road at Kaiapoi about 3.30 a.m. on Saturday. Mr Dawson was admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital. Mr Cooke and Pamela Williams, of 26 Kings avenue, Waikuku, were treated at the Christchurch Hospital for abrasions. The car was extensively damaged about the front. Car Wrecked. Serious head injuries were suffered by Raymood Boyle, of 259 Fitzgerald avenue, when a car struck a pole in Riccarton avenue about 250 yards mi the city side of the Riccartoo roundabout about 2 a.m. yesterday. Mr Boyle was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital, where his condition was reported last evening as satisfactory. David Teatora, of 197 Fitzgerald avenue, was treated at the Christchurch Hospital for head injuries. The car rolled over and was wrecked. Lacerated Knee. Kelvin Rooke, of 17 Springs road, suffered a lacerated knee when a motor-cycle and a van collided at the corner of Worcester and Barbadoes streets at 3.55 p.m. on Saturday. Mr Rooke was treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Facial Abrasions.—When a car hit a parked car in Carlton Mill road about 8 p.m. on Saturday, John Henry Brander, of 22 Queens avenue, Fendalton, suffered facial abrasions. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital.

Car Overturns.—A car was extensively damaged when it overturned in Cambridge terrace between Barbadoes and Churchill streets about 3.40 a.m. on Saturday. The driver. Peter Charles Burnie, of 82 Randolph street, and a passenger, Clifford Graham Chappell, of 17 Clearbrook street, suffered slight injuries.

Four In Collision.—Three ears and an empty petrol tanker were involved in collisions at the comer of the Main South road and Bumham road late on Friday evening. Mrs Ethel Nolan, of 21 Old North road, Tinwald, and Mrs Bernadette Hand, of Nixon street, Tinwald, were admitted to the Princess Margaret Hospital with head injuries. Gerald Nolan, of Old North road, Tinwald, and Miss Patricia Nolan, of Rolleston street, Rakaia, were treated at the Christchurch Hospital. The collisions occurred during heavy rain about 11 p.m. It is understood that Mr Nolan’s car and the tanker, which was being driven in the opposite direction on the main road, collided, and the car then collided with two other cars.
