EXTENSION OF HOTEL
Tourism Plan In Dunedin
(From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. The Minister of Tourism (Mr Eyre) was told today of the investigations being made in Dunedin into producing a top-class tourist hotel there. Sir Leonard Wright, a former Mayor of the city, and four others in the .scheme outlined the proposal to Mr Eyre. The plan is to extend the Grand Hotel to provide a total of 170 beds, shops within the hotel, and a 100car parking building. Mr Eyre said afterwards he was enthusiastic about the proposals and recalled he had suggested a year ago that this was the most practical means of providing the necessary accommodation in Dunedin. He would follow the scheme with interest and encouragement, he said.
