Publisher Resigns Over Erotic Novel
(N.ZP. A.-Reuter— Copyright) LONDON, Oct. 2. The manager of a publishing company in Wales has resigned over a Welsh-language novel which describes a minister’s adulterous relationship with a young girl. Mr Emlyn Evans, aged 40, the manager of Christopher Davies (Publishers) Ltd., of Llandbyie, Carmarthenshire, said he had decided to resign after a typescript of the novel, “Yut is my Sin,” had been sent to the printers while he was on holiday. He said he had earlier made it clear that he was not prepared to publish the novel under any circumstances. The novel was written by Mr John Rowlands, of Trawsfynydd, Merioneth, a lecturer in Welsh at Trinity College, Carmarthen. It was entered in this year’s national eisteddfod at Swansea. One of the adjudicators, Mr Caradog Pritchard, said as far as he knew there had ne/er been “such a descrip-
tion in Welsh of the sex act as in this book.” Mr Evans said a director had told his secretary while he was on holiday that the typescript of the book was in the printer’s hands and that the company would publish it.
