Duck Shooting
Sir, —As an angler who fishes around the shores of Lake Ellesmere .and is at present entitled to fish until the end of April, I would like to protest against the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society’s intention to open the duck shooting season in midApril, I foresee a war developing between shooters and anglers if the society grants the shooters the mid-April opening. 1 sincerely hope that the Minister of Internal Affairs and the Marine Department will do all in their power to stop the society from opening its game shooting season before the end of the fishing season.—Yours, etc WILD IRISHMAN. September 29, 1964.
