COACH WILL FLY TO N.Z
Club Making New Plans
The former Scottish amateur soccer International, J. Chalmers, will fly to Christchurch In November to join the Technical Old Boys club as. Its player-coach. The club has cabled Chalmers of this new arrangement after learning that the 33-year-old player, his wife and two children would have to wait until May-June next year for passages on a ship.
The Technical club secretary, Mr L. Gray, said last evening that it would cost the club nearly £750 to fly out Chalmers and his family. “We have gone into debt to get him here as soon as possible,” he said. "The club had a loss of £lOO on the year, we found a substantial sum for the under 18 team to play in Australia, ; and our other monies are tied up and no more will be coming in until next season. But we think any sacrifice is worth it.’’ The club has arranged summer coaching classes for Chalmers, and he will probably play his first game for . Technical in the. new indoor . soccer series, starting in January.
