ARTS FESTIVAL DECORATIONS
Approval By Retailers The size and scope of the Christchurch Pan Pacific Arts Festival, to be held from February 22 to March 6, was outlined to a representative gathering of city retail groups by the festival’s president, Mr J. Collins. The groups were called together by the Canterbury and Westland Retailers’ Association. Representatives of three major groups expressed full support for plans to organise special decorations and displays during the festival, and other group representatives would report back to their respective groups for decision later, said the association’s secretary, Mr N. M. West. “It is rather early yet,” said Mr West, “but the retail trade generally expressed approval for this project which is of a magnitude never before attempted in the city.”
