Authority To Inspect Park

The National Parks Authority will make its first visit in seven years to the Arthur’s Pass National Park from November 14 to 16. The Arthur’s Pass National Park Board will meet in Christchurch on November 11 to discuss and adopt its development policy for the next 20 years, and will explain the policy to the authority. The authority will also view improvements in the park.

The authority will inspect on the Saturday the Christchurch Boys’ High School hut and the Poulter river area, and after attending a service in the township chapel will be addressed by the board’s chief ranger (Mr P. Croft). On Sunday, the party will visit the Temple Basin and Dobson nature walk and the new Otira cableway. Monday morning will be spent in an inspection of the township. The party will see the Waimakariri area on its way back to Christchurch.
