SENT FOR SENTENCE
74 Previous Convictions (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Oct. 1. Because of the magnitude of the offences, Mr R. M. Grant, S.M., declined to deal with Alan Stuart Wells, aged 37, clerk, in the Magistrate’s Court today. He ordered that Wells, who has 74 previous convictions for false pretences, be sent to the Supreme Court for sentence on two charges of false pretences and one of obtaining credit by fraud. The sum involved is £3348. Wells was arrested in Melbourne last month and had previously admitted all charges. Evidence was given earlier that Wells bet £lOOO on the T.A.B. in an attempt to make good his debts.
