CHURCH CENSUS
Laymen’s Visit In Shirley A hundred and six laymen of four Shirley churches visited 400 households in their area in a joint venture on Saturday. The churches are St. Stephen’s (Anglican), St. Aidan’s (Presbyterian), Our Lady of Fatima (Roman Catholic), and Shirley (Methodist). The households visited were chosen by eliminating all those on the pastoral rolls of the four churches. The area involved was the block bounded by Hills, Shirley, Marshland, and Briggs roads. Of the households where aomeone was home when the visitors arrived, 80 were linked to other churches; 40 objected to stating their religion or were professedly agnostic or atheistic. Eighty families were Anglican but with no church affiliation, and there were 45 Presbyterian, 40 Roman Catholic, and 30 Methodist families without any church link. Each congregation will now approach i the unlinked families of its denomination.
