GOODS FOR HOSPITALS
Bethany and Karitane Hospitals benefited from an Inter-institute competition i judged at the half-yearly | meeting of the Port Hills Group of the Canterbury Federation of Country Women's Institutes recently. Jars of marmalade, shortbread, and 50 baby garments were given to the hospitals. The competition resulted: North Beach Institute 1, Hillsborough - Heathcote 2. South Brighton 3. Flower competitions winners weresmall blooms, Mrs R. W. MeKechnie (North Beach); small bloom, Mrs M. Stevens (Lyttelton); cluster, Mrs.D. Griffiths (South Brighton). Parcels had been sent every two months to a sponsored Greek child, by institutes, and an “adopted" patient at Sunnyside Hospital had been visited. A talk on a tour through Spain was given by Mrs R. K. Duckworth, of Lyttelton. Songs were sung by Mrs I. deWilds, and • recitation given by Mrs R. Cooke. Mrs W. G. Louden (group convener) presided. North Beach institute were the . hostesses.
