Kidnapping Case

(N ZP.A.-Reuter—Copyright) POITIERS South-west France), Sept. 30. Doctors today fought to save the life of a 54-year-oid woman found hanging by a rope at her home near Poitiers yesterday. Five days ago her grandchild and two other children

were released by kidnappers now being sought in a nationwide manhunt. The woman, identified as Mrs Gisele Biet has been in a coma since she was found hanging yesterday afternoon. Police at Poitiers indicated that Mrs Biet is not suspected of the kidnapping. Meanwhile, the search for the kidnappers was stepped up as police fears grew that the children’s recollections of the people that bundled them into a car on September 21 as they were returning home from school may fade completely unless they are confronted with the culprits soon.

Questioned Daily

Since their release the three children, Joel Biet, aged five, Patrick Guiliin, aged five, and his six-year-old sister, Christine, have been questioned daily by police trying to glean any small clue which might put them on to the trail of the kidnappers. Apart from describing a “big white house” where they were kept by the kidnappers, the children have apparently not provided any concrete lead. In Vichy, central France, police last night arrested three men in connexion with an unsuccessful attempt to kidnap a 13-year-old girl near the town yesterday. A car stopped beside the girl, who, was not identified,

and the occupants tried to pull her into the vehicle. The girl cried for help and the car sped away without her when a householder came running to the scene.
