Darwin Defence
(NZ. Press Assn.—Copyright) DARWIN, September 30. An anti-aircraft defence system is to be installed in Darwin, the largest town on Australia’s northern coastline. A batten’’ of 12 Bofors rapid firing anti-aircraft guns has been sent to Darwin and is to be installed . at vulnerable points around the city. Recruiting has begun in Darwin for 150 citizen military forces men to man the guns, an Army spokesman said today. The recruits will be trained by Australian regular army Bofors experts who will form the nucleus of the anti-aircraft unit. The Bofors battery represents the first anti-aircraft defence Darwin has had since World War 11.
