FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A deep depression lies to the south. A cold front is moving eastwards over New Zealand and a strong westerly airstream over the Tasman Sea is spreading on to the country.
Forecast: Canterbury.—Fresh westerlies; some showers in the alps, but mainly fine elsewhere; moderate temperatures. Outlook: fine. Marlborough and Nelson.—Fresh to strong westerlies; a few showers persisting about the western ranges of Nelson; elsewhere mainly fine; moderate tempratures. Outlook: fine. Buller and Westland.—Fresh to strong westerlies, tending south-west later in the day; changeable, with showers, but some fair intervals; scattered thunderstorms. Outlook: showers.
