Fees Proposal Criticised
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Sept. 9. The New Zealand University Students’ Association was concerned at the proposal of the University Grants Committee to increase certain university fees, the vicepresident of the association (Mr R. Clark) said today. “While the actual increases would not be great, a very important principle is at stake,” he said. “New Zealand needs a good supply of graduates. The effect of the increases would be to penalise the student who is working his way through university. Such persons should be encouraged, not discouraged.”
